Jirí David
born 1956 in Rumbum, then Czechoslovakia, Jiri David lives
and works in Prague. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague
and belonged later to the artist collective Tvrdohlaví (the
Hardheaded). Since 1995 he is the director of the Studio of Visual
Comunication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. With his artistic
practice firmly anchored in Prague, David has exhibited across Europe
and North America, with solo exhibitions in Czech Republic, England,
Germany, Austria and Denmark. Working across painting, photography,
video and installations, a particular involvement with the public and
the private, with form and emotion, characterizes his work.
