P Yacoub/M Lasserre
Paola Yacoub and Michel Lasserre, both born in Beirut, 1966 and 1947
respectively, live and work in Berlin, presently engaged with the
D.A.A.D Berliner künstlerprogramm. Since 2000, they pursue their
artistic practice in collaboration. Paola Yacoub studied architecture
and fine arts in London. She has also been involved with archeology.
Michel Lasserre studied architecture and philosophy in Paris. Their
work concerns transformations in visual culture and in the employment
of the gaze, often focussing on instrumentalizing situations where
images are articulated or enunciated. Recent projects have been
presented at Kunst-Werke, Berlin (2001); Le Plateau, Paris (2002);
Witte de With, Rotterdam (2002); Venice Biennial (2003); Bildmuseet,
Umeå (2003); Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (2004); Hamburger
Bahnhof/Müseum für Gegenwart, Berlin (2004). A series of
lectures/performances, titled Beirut is a magnificent city, synoptic
pictures was presented at Fundacio Antoni Tapiès, Barcelona in 2003.
