Zaneta Vangeli
born in 1963 in Bitola, Macedonia, lives and works in Skopje, Macedonia. She studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje/Macedonia (1981-84) and at the Staatliche Hochschule fuer Bildende Kuenste – Staedelschule in Frankfurt/Main (1984-88). Vangeli is a multimedia artist, working in painting, objects, photography, video and film. She has had many solo exhibitions, including a presentation at Deutsches Filmmuseum, Frankfurt/Main (2003), La Mama Galleria in New York (1997), Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje (1994), Kommunale Galerie im Leinwandhaus in Frankfurt/Main (1993). Vangeli has as well taken part in many group exhibitions, film and video festivals, including “Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival” (2005), “Europ ‘art #001” at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Strasbourg (2004), “Cosmopolis” at the State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki, and at the Macedonian Pavillion, 50th International Art Exhibition, Venice,  “In den Schluchten des Balkan” at the Musuem Friedericianum in Kassel,. In 2002 Zaneta Vangeli premiered her first experimental feature, “The Judge” (102 min., Macedonia/Germany) at the Venice International Film Festival in the section “New Territories” in Venice. The Judge has been shown in over 30 film festivals and exhibitions.
